Rachel Carter is a Producer and Screenwriter from Atlanta, Georgia. Growing up she loved to act, regularly taking classes with the dream of becoming an actress. She always knew she wanted to tell stories. It wasn’t until she was twelve, when her parents relocated to Monterey, California, that she discovered a passion for film. In the summer of 2010 she put her talents to the test to produce, write and direct her first short film entitled, “It’s a Process” with the Hara Motion Picture Conservatory of Monterey. That fall, her film was featured in the “Youth Amateurs Short” program as a student selection at the Carmel Film Festival. A few years later she obtained her BA in Film Studies from California State University Monterey Bay. While attending school she produced Eve Ensler’s play “The Vagina Monologues”, and developed her second short film “Revival”, which showcased at the University’s annual film festival. She is currently attending Howard University obtaining her MFA Film with a continued emphasis in Producing and Writing. As a rising thesis candidate, she continues to collaborate and network with her peers on various projects and short films. She has a passion to tell stories because it serves as a powerful means of reimagining and challenging stereotypes to expose the humanity of people and cultures that are otherwise misrepresented.
